About SERIES Voltage Regulation Technology
RMSTATOR's SERIES voltage regulator provides improved reliability and charging system performance. A SERIES regulator is a significant upgrade over typical shunt-type voltage regulators.
A shunt regulator controls battery voltage by grounding the stator coils to dissipate current as heat rather than sending it to the battery. SERIES regulators control battery voltage by intermittently disconnecting the stator coils from the regulator electronics, limiting current flow through the unit and to the battery.
This results in lower regulator and stator temperatures, more accurate voltage regulation and increased reliability of the charging system components.
About the Bypass Harness
This bypass harness allows you to connect the new SERIES regulator directly to the battery. It bypasses sections of wiring and multiple connectors in the main wiring harness, providing a safer and more direct connection.
Before Installing the New High-Output Stator and SERIES Voltage Regulator/Rectifier
- Check the AC output of the stator.
- Replace any burned or corroded connectors on the stator and regulator/rectifier.
- Check and repair any melted wiring.
- Use high-temperature dielectric grease on all connectors.
The stator may use a different wire colour code from the original part. All wires are installed in the correct order; do not change any wiring configurations. This stator is designed as a direct plug-in replacement and should be used as such.
When bolting the stator in place, always use thread-locking compound. If the stator includes a pickup coil, ensure the air gap is correctly adjusted during installation. We recommend setting it as close as possible, but no less than 0.010".
